Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make arrangements for my pet to stay at the Cozy?
First off call and set up your reservations……..when speaking with our representative she will then ask a series of questions, and request your address to send out a brochure and packet to you.
Why do I have to answer so many questions?
Hear at the Cozy we want to know everything we need to know about your pet. We keep files just like a vet hospital with as much history as possible so that we will be able to mimic your home situation and monitor your pet in every way: mentally, physically, emotionally, medically and spiritually.
What makes the Cozy different from other facilities?
I hate warehouse kennels……….my pets were never happy. Being forced to relieve themselves in the room they are staying in is a nightmare for the house pet and goes against everything the pet owner has taught them.
So when developing the Cozy’s I wanted a fun, exciting, safe place for my pets to stay. A place they can have all kinds of entertainments, exciting activities, lots of physical activities, loving staff, maintain their house training……….etc, just like they are living at home with you.
The Cozy Inns are premier, exceptional, immaculate and fun adventures for the family pets.
Do you give tours?
Tours are scheduled by appointments. During our holidays and busy season, we highly recommend you set up an appointment. Everything about the resort is about energy and we want to keep the pets calm and peaceful. We welcome you to bring your pet with you. While we give you a tour your pet will be placed in the play yard to become acquainted with the scents of the resort. Then on his return to stay it will be familiar scent and make transition easier. We are very proud of the Cozy Inn it’s a glorious place for pets.
How big are the rooms?
We have a variety of size rooms throughout the resort. Take a tour & check it out. We also have Executive Suites, and Cozy Condo’s considering which facility you are using. We highly encourage you to tour our facilities and bring your pet.
How often will my pet go outside?
We like to put the pets out on a revolving schedule every 2 ½ hours from 5:30/6 am to 9 pm. Your pet will be out 8 – 10 times a day depending on weather and you’re pet/pets. Also not only does your pet automatically go out on a rotation schedule……we have many other options for entertainment: Spa services, off Leash Park, activities center, swimming, hot tub, couch time, etc.
What should I expect when I bring my pet home?
Since there are NO COUCH POTATOES at the cozy……….you should expect a tired pet and normally your pet will sleep for 3 days and then return to normal behavior. You have to consider how you feel when you come home from a very active fun exciting vacation…we usually need a vacation from our vacation…this is how your pet will feel. Do not push your pet to eat and drink they will when they are ready. Just let them relax and sleep.
Is my pet sick? All he wants to do is sleep since I've brought him home?
We ask you to call us if you have any questions about your pets behavior and stay when you get them home…………this usually occurs the first visit questions. We had a client once think her pet was in a “warehouse” situation………he was not he was in high level activity……….so she ordered 18 field trips for a 9 day stay……….this is very high level of activity when you put that with the already set up routine of 8/10 times a day out off leash is our play yards with friends. So depending on the breed, age, medical condition you have to take in the activity ability of each particular guest. Some breeds such as bull dogs, Boston terriers, pugs are sensitive to too much activity and may lose weight or tire out quickly.
Also, some high energy pets such as Dalmatians, Boxers, and high energy sporting breeds may need to make some adjustments on feeding, and activity.
My pet lost some weight after his stay at the Cozy why would this happen do you feed him?
Of course we feed all the pets exactly as the Pet Owner requested but what may happen is the activity level for the pet is more than what happens at home so they may need an increase in food on their visit.
There are adjustments that need to be made with our first time guests to find the right activity level and feeding in order not to lose weight. Remember your pets are usually on low level of activity at home when the pet owners are gone all day at work or caring for family routines. When at the Cozy this is a true exciting active vacation…………no “ Couch time for Bonzo” here! We do though have some siestas during the course of the active day usually at 11 am / 4 pm.
What kind of bedding do you use?
We have beds, blankets, fleece bedding in fact all kinds available…we also welcome you to bring your pets favorite bed or something familiar from home.
I picked up my pet and his bedding was destroyed?
Sometimes when not expected a guest will destroy their bedding………..even if they never do it at home it could happen. This is a statement made by the pet and usually happens sometimes with the first stay or during a thunder storm. So don’t send anything that is expensive or important to you if you know your pet could be destructive. Usually we try to not put the bed in the first night and then after the pet have transitioned and know the routine we can put it in.
When my pet leaves to the Cozy Inn he drinks large amounts of water……..do you not give them water all the time?
All pets all the time have fresh clean water available to them in every area of the resort. Sometimes they can drink a lot of water when returning home but it’s only a way a pet shows excitement and anticipation. It’s best not to let them drink a lot of water the first night as they may throw up and this may cause them to dehydrate a little. Just put a small bowl out with a little water and some ice cubes and let them rest.
Is there someone in the building over night?
No, our techs are here from 5:30 am to 9:00 pm……..but, we have some serious security and fire security in place for the protection of your pet. And at the Stahlstown resort we are also under the protection of Loyalhanna Police Patrol. At our Pittsburgh Resort we have very serious security and fire security and patrolling of the Plum borough police.
Do you use crates?
Along with our ceramic tile executive suites, family suites, and general suites we do have some crates and stainless steel rooms. Each room is used for special purposes depending on your pet’s needs or special needs. Although, our rooms are immaculate and beautiful some clients request crates because they feel their pets stay in crate at home and feel safer that way. We want to comply with you and what you feel about making your pet safe, happy, peaceful.
Does my pet just sit in a room all day?
NO….along with going out into the play yard on the revolving cycle we have indoor pool, hot tub, off leash parks, spa services, training……………there is just so much available for your pet to do…that’s why they come home so tired.
Why is the Bordetella required every 6 months?
Because at our resorts our clients and pets are from all over the world and there are many strains of that particular airborne virus. We want the ultimate protection possible. Just like a common cold it can be in the air. We have worked with the best vets to set up the ultimate protection for all our guests. We also want the pets that have never had the Bordetella Vaccine to have the vaccine administered twice before coming in for first time vaccinations.
How long are the field trips?
The field trips can vary 20 minutes depending on the pace and age of the pets enjoying them.
What is the activity like for my small dog?
WE have a beautiful activity center is a little over 1 ½ acres of play area in shaded spots with toys and picnic tables.
Why do you need my cell?
We want a hotline to the pet parent at all times in case of emergency in behalf of your pet.
It is important for us to be able to communicate with the owner or the person is the emergency contact remembers we are taking care of living beings and anything can happen.
